One of the best things about sports is rivalries. Whether it is the Cleveland Browns versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, and Cincinnati Bengals, The Ohio State Buckeyes versus “That Team Up North,” or the rivalries that occur naturally as sports happen (Cleveland Cavaliers versus the Golden State Warriors), tribalism creates a lot of passion.
Unfortunately, that tribalism is not often shared by the players on the field. Heck, LeBron James might join the Warriors over the Cavaliers despite
years of feuding.
There may be no greater hatred than that of Browns fans versus the whole Ravens organization. While Ethan Pocic’s return to health and signing in Baltimore is nowhere near a big story, it still can bring up past wounds for Clevelanders who endure “The Betrayal.”
Pocic signed with the Ravens on a one-year deal, according to a report late Friday afternoon:
Baltimore lost Tyler Linderbaum in free agency and lacked certainty at the center position all offseason. Danny Pinter, a 5th-round pick in 2020 who has only started 10 games in his career, led the team’s depth chart heading into training camp.
Pocic spent four years with the Browns, starting 57 games, after five years with the Seattle Seahawks, who had drafted him in the second round of the 2017 draft. An Achilles injury in December ended Pocic’s 2025 season and his career in Cleveland.
How do you feel about Pocic signing with the Ravens? Do you think he will be an important addition for the Browns AFC North rivals?
