Hamza Abdelkarim is expected to link up with Hansi Flick’s first-team squad for pre-season training at Barcelona on Monday despite having only just finished international duty with Egypt at World Cup 2026.
The teenager made four appearances as Egypt made it to the last 16 of the World Cup but were then beaten 3-2 by Argentina in a thriller.
Reports in Spain now say that the teenager has opted not to take the two weeks vacation he is entitled to and will instead head straight for Barcelona.
Abdelkarim
wants the chance to show Hansi Flick what he can do ahead of the start of the new campaign and potentially convince the Barcelona boss he’s worth some first-team minutes in 2026-27.
Flick will have a host of youngsters under his command next week as the majority of first-teamers remain at World Cup 2026 or are still on holiday after featuring at the tournament.
Barcelona have already confirmed Abdelkarim has now been signed on a permanent transfer after initially joining the club on loan in the winter window.
