Argentina and Inter Milan star Lautaro Martínez has declared Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane the best in the world, in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. The two clashed last season when FC Bayern faced the Italian champions in the Champions League quarter-final, with Lautaro actually outscoring Kane 2 to 1 over the course of 180 minutes.
Still, the Argentine puts Kane at the pinnacle of world football. Here is the relevant excerpt from the interview, where he is asked his opinion on the matter:
Who is the best striker in the world?
“Harry Kane. I even put him above Haaland, for the way he controls the ball, the way he links up and reads the game, and his headers. He’s a phenomenon.”
Most football fans would agree with him, given the incredible numbers Kane has put up this season, backed up by actual tangible trophies. There is really no one else in Europe that comes close right now. Up next, the England captain is expected to lead his country to new heights in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
