The Buffalo Bills introduced current offensive coordinator Joe Brady as the franchise’s 21st head coach Thursday during a press conference at One Bills Drive.
On a frigid Western New York day, surrounded
by president of football operations Brandon Beane, reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen and many members of the Bills, Brady said he believes in “being the weather,” a reference to his high-energy approach to being Buffalo’s newest head coach.
“It starts with a new energy, a new mentality and a new vision,” said Brady, who at 36 years old is currently the youngest head coach in the league.
“I’m going to bring the energy every single day. I believe people are going to feed off that. I truly believe in being the temperature. I’m the weather, and they’re going to feel it every single day, a mentality. I believe in everything about these guys right here.”
Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by recapping Brady’s introductory press conference and offering up the important takeaways for Bills fans as the Joe Brady era begins in Orchard Park, NY.
Joe Brady was “the perfect fit”
After interviewing nine total candidates for their head coaching vacancy following the firing of Sean McDermott, current offensive coordinator Joe Brady was named Buffalo’s next head coach because he was “the perfect fit for our team, right now,” according to Brandon Beane.
Brady now takes over as one of the key voices in the organization, and during his press conference, Brady made sure to emphasize that he is bringing a new vision to the team while also paying respect for the foundation of success established by McDermott during his nine years coaching the Bills.
“Over the past four years, I’ve learned a tremendous amount of things from coach McDermott,” Brady said. “How to lead, resilience, standards. The past nine years in this organization matter. I’m understanding of that. I’m appreciative of the opportunity to be a part of it. They matter deeply, and they deserve respect. I’m so grateful for coach McDermott. I love coach McDermott, and I’m going to do whatever I can to build upon the things he laid, and the foundation he laid.”
