Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Jaguars fans and fans across the country.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are fresh off their bye.
The recent move of Anton Harrison to season-ending injured reserve certainly stings, but the roster has generally been healthy. And with a two-game lead in the AFC South standings so early in the season, things are looking up for our Jags.
According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, Jacksonville
projects to win their division in 86.9% of simulations. Only the San Francisco 49ers (89.8%) have a higher figure.
ESPN also gives the Jaguars a 92.1% chance to make the playoffs, a 32.5% chance to reach the conference championship game, and an 8.4% chance to reach the Super Bowl.
Each of those figures ranks fifth in the NFL, which is great… but the four teams with better chances are the 49ers and three fellow AFC contenders: the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Cincinnati Bengals.
Former general manager Trent Baalke once said, “The easiest thing to do in the NFL is take an average football team, a struggling football team, and make it competitive. The hardest thing to do is take a competitive football team and make it a championship football team.”
Fortunately, current general manager James Gladstone still has until the league’s Nov. 10 trade deadline to make a splash move and help get this roster over the hump.
