When it comes to the Cleveland Browns, the quarterback position is the great unknown. No one knows for sure whether Deshaun Watson or Shedeur Sanders will be the starter. Based on the team’s recent history, the most likely outcome is that both players, plus at least one more, see time as the starter for the Browns this season.
Can Watson have a bounce-back season, six years after his last good one? Can Sanders take a huge step forward after a poor rookie campaign? What role, if any, will Dillon Gabriel
and Taylen Green play?

Browns QB Expectations
Best-Case Scenario
Given his age and contract, the best-case scenario for Cleveland is that Sanders proves to be a starting-level quarterback after winning the job coming out of training camp. A young, cheap Sanders heading into the 2027 NFL draft could give the Browns all kinds of options. Watson playing well would also be a positive outcome, although that would create some interesting decisions for GM Andrew Berry, potentially.
Worst-Case Scenario
The 2025 season all over again with Watson, not Joe Flacco, as the vet who wins the starting job coming out of camp before failing, leading to Sanders taking over (in the role of Gabriel last year), then giving way to Gabriel and/or Green. A revolving door at the quarterback spot would make for another difficult season but would also provide clarity for the 2027 draft.
Browns QB Roster
Improved or Worse Than 2025’s Version
Just based on the experience gained by Sanders and Gabriel last year and the added athleticism with Watson and Green, Cleveland’s quarterback position has a bigger upside going into 2026. Will it actually be improved? Again, no one knows, and everyone is projecting or guessing.
What do you see when you look at the Browns QB room? Is there an addition to the depth chart you would like to see?
