Bayern Munich is continuing to plan for the long-term development of Felipe Chávez, extending the 19-year-old attacker’s contract through June 30, 2028, while also sending him out on loan to 1. FC Magdeburg for the 2026/27 season.
The move gives Chávez an opportunity to take another important step in his development after gaining his first taste of regular Bundesliga football with 1. FC Köln during the second half of last season. Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund believes regular playing
time will be crucial for Chávez at this stage of his career.
“Pippo Chávez took the next step in his development with his outings for 1. FC Köln and should now gain more regular playing time at Magdeburg. We have extended his contract because we are convinced of his potential for the future,” Freund said in a release from FCBayern.com.
Chávez has been part of Bayern Munich’s system since joining the club from FC Augsburg’s academy in 2019. The native of Aichach progressed through every youth level before breaking into the reserve team, where he recorded four goals and two assists in 19 appearances.
That led to his professional debut in Bayern Munich’s 8-1 victory over VfL Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena in January. Chávez has also earned international recognition, making his senior Peru debut in a friendly against Chile last October.
Now, another loan spell will give Chávez the chance to turn his potential into consistent senior-level production.
