When the FC Dallas players line up on November 1st to face the Vancouver Whitecaps in the second game of their best-of-three MLS first round playoff series, they will be greeted by a terrifying sight. Thomas Müller, world-conquering superstar, long-time Bavarian space interpreter and now VWFC hitman, will be stalking them through the night.
In contrast to his Bayern years, Müller is sporting a full beard these days. It’s not just for spooky season — but it has taken on a life of its own.
“The idea
for the beard actually came about when I hadn’t shaved regularly after my last visit to Germany in September due to flying back and forth,” the mustachioed menace explained recently in comments to Bild (as captured by Tz). “Since some of my teammates here sport full beards in the Canadian style, I thought: I’ll give it a try. And what can I say: I really like it.”
Müller’s start to life in Canada has been positively wicked. Seven goals, three assists in seven regular season matches.
When he’s not ghosting behind your defense, he’s conjuring up a scary good pass. Tricks? Treats? The maestro’s got it all. With a new beard to boot.
“My teammates have since taken me to their barber in Vancouver, where I now also go to get my beard trimmed,” Müller added. “It’s a new and fun experience.”
Vancouver’s match against Dallas kicks off on November 1st. The Whitecaps have already secured one win in the series, a dominant 3-0 display in which Müller served up a penalty kick.
What delights will he have in store next?
