The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the midst of their bye week, but that doesn’t mean general manager Omar Khan isn’t working the phones.
Pittsburgh still needs a No. 2 boundary wide receiver to take some attention away from DK Metcalf, and to open the offense as a whole – especially if Calvin Austin is to miss any significant time. And as teams begin to get a grip on what the remainder of their respective seasons will look like, players will begin to become more readily available via trade.
One of those
teams is the 0-4 New Orleans Saints, and Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Football Network reports that several Saints veterans could be available for trade sooner than later.
“There are teams interested in some of the Saints’ veteran players and they’ll be watching to see who becomes available in the coming weeks, league sources tell me,” Underhill reports on X. “There’s a feeling around the league that New Orleans will be open to hearing offers in the coming weeks.”
The Steelers reportedly inquired about trading for Saints wide receiver Chris Olave during the offseason, but were turned away. With the Saints’ season already all but done in terms of games of importance, perhaps they’ll change their tune should the Steelers come calling again.
