There might not be a player at Bayern Munich taking the Champions League elimination at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain harder than star striker Harry Kane.
Kane seems distraught over the exit, as he appeared to be fully convinced that this was the year for the Bavarians.
“Right now, I’m just disappointed. We were extremely close this year. Of course, we dreamed of winning all the titles. We’re good enough to achieve exactly that. That’s exactly why it hurts so much at this moment,” Kane told Bild
(as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I think everyone who watched the game will come to the same conclusion. How can you call a handball last week and not this week? (Nuno) Mendes should also have clearly received a second yellow card. Somehow the referee changed his mind. That’s just how it is: over two games, you also need that little bit of luck on your side if you want to advance. Then it’s precisely these small details that can make the difference.
“The coming days will certainly be tough. Yes, we were absolutely convinced that we had what it takes to turn things around and reach the final. It will be difficult. Tonight, tomorrow – as always in football, it’s one game after another. We already have another match on Saturday. We are professionals. We play for Bayern Munich. We have to be ready and try to deliver another absolutely top performance. Of course the DFB-Pokal final – that’s where our entire focus is now. It will hurt, and I’m sure we’ll be talking and thinking about it for a while. But as always: look ahead, focus on the next task.”
At this point in his career, Kane knows he will not get many more chances to get that far in the Champions League Surely, the UCL will be in full focus for the Bavarians next season.
