This week’s SB Nation Reacts tackled expectations for the Houston Rockets this season, after the team emerged as one of the best teams in the NBA, in addition to adding Kevin Durant in the summer.
The fine
folks over at FanDuel seem to somewhat agree, with Houston sixth in championship odds at +1900 — the fourth-best among Western Conference teams, although they’re ways away from the Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets.
That’s in spite of Houston’s 0-2 start, although it’s far too early in the season to fret about anything.
How exactly are our readers feeling?
The overwhelming majority of you (49 percent) picked the Rockets to reach the Western Conference Finals, albeit to lose and have their season ended in that round. 32 percent of you have the Rockets winning it all.
All told, 90 percent of you have the Rockets advancing past the first round, which would be Houston first time advancing since the bubble in 2020.
I personally agree that Houston will make it past the first round, but just how far they go will depend heavily on the guard play and whether Ime Udoka will be able to find a playmaking, distributing point guard.
If Reed Sheppard continues to struggle, General Manager Rafael Stone will need to work the phones on December 15th because the Rockets have struggled to bring the ball up the court thus far.
Yet and still, this Rockets roster is loaded with talent and I still believe Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengun, and Kevin Durant is easily one of the four best trios across the league.
