The Cowboys locked up a star defender long-term, and opened up a potential pathway to add more talent with the cap space relief.
On the surface, the Cowboys are taking care of their best defender—and most prominent pass rusher, albeit from the interior—on the roster. That alone makes the move worthy of applause.
But this also opens the door for additional moves by Dallas. Prior to the extension, Williams’ cap hit sat at $21.6 million. Though we’re expecting financial details, that number is likely to decrease significantly. Before Monday’s news, Over the Cap projected an extension could open up over $15 million in cap savings.

How big an impact has BT Jordan made working with you guys?
Gary: It’s been second to none. Being able to watch film with him, then to come out to the practice, do individual drills with him, and the things that we’ve seen in film, the things that we work in the individual drills. The number one thing is you could do all the film work, you do all the drill work, but if it’s not coming to fruition, then it’s really nothing.

A strong joint practice against his old team would just be the latest positive summer report for Cobie Durant, who’s been the team’s best corner at camp so far.
Durant’s next practice will be a reunion of sorts, a battle against his former team. The Cowboys will travel up to Los Angeles for Tuesday’s joint practice with the Rams, who drafted him in 2022.
“Overly excited … I went up against that offense for four years,” said Durant, who signed with Dallas in March as a free agent. “It’s a high‑powered offense with Matthew Stafford, the running backs in the backfield, the wide receiving corps. It’s exciting when you’re practicing and going up against it.”

Ogbonnia has been one of the more impressive free agent additions for the Cowboys. If he’s not blowing up plays, he’s batting down passes at the line of scrimmage. He’s an underrated signing that could pay huge dividends this year as an upgrade along the interior of Dallas’ defensive line.

Howell and Milton have been battling to be the backup to Dak Prescott and I think both will play a half, but not sure who the starter will be just yet.

The Cowboys have hit on UFL signees before, and now have last season’s leading rusher in their backfield competition.
The Dallas Cowboys churned the back end of their roster on Friday, releasing RB Dominic Richardson and signing 2025 UFL rushing leader Jashaun Corbin. Corbin recently played for the UFL’s Orlando Storm, recording 131 carries for 433 rushing yards and 3 TDs, plus 21 catches for 118 yards and a TD.
A 2022 UDFA out of Florida State and Texas A&M, Corbin previously spent time with the Giants (appearing in 6 games), Panthers, Falcons, and Patriots. This could be his opportunity for redemption, a chance to make an impact in the league.
