The New York Giants have shifted out of Turbo mode. The team announced on Monday afternoon that they have waived running back Dante Miller (known to fans as ‘Turbo’) with an injury designation. Miller suffered a groin injury in the Giants’ 13-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
The Giants announced that Miller was waived as a part of a series of roster moves that also includes officially signing quarterback Jake Haener and linebacker Chandler Martin.
The Giants needed to free up one roster spot after
CB Sam Webb retired Sunday, and Miller’s was the one they elected to use.
The Giants originally signed Miller after a curious series of events that led to him being ruled ineligible for the 2022 college season, as well as the 2024 NFL Draft. It was ruled that he should have been a part of the 2023 NFL Draft, but hadn’t declared because he was still trying to gain eligibility to play college ball that year. Therefore, he immediately became a free agent and signed with the Giants prior to the 2024 draft.
Miller quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his blazing (4.27) speed and home run potential. However, he didn’t survive final cutdowns and spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad. It was widely expected that he had forced his way onto the roster thanks to a series of explosive plays over the course of the 2025 training camp and preseason, but the Giants once again waived him during final cutdowns and he spent a second season on the practice squad.
The Giants also hosted former first-round running back Najee Harris on Monday, and he could be on their radar once he’s in football shape.
