There are certain positions in the NFL where you can’t have enough players.
On defense, one of those groups is at cornerback. Even if guys don’t play, having depth lets teams do so much more. And even if they don’t get on the field defensively, they can make contributions on special teams.
Reese Taylor is one of those depth pieces for Denver and the secondary.
Player Profile
Age: 26 | Experience: Second Year | College: Purdue | Height: 5’9” | Weight: 188 pounds
Entering his second year, Reese has played in five games
for the Broncos. He played in four games in 2025, finishing with two tackles.
Taylor spent the majority of the 2023 and ‘24 seasons on Denver’s practice squad.
Based on 2025, we’ll likely see something similar for Taylor this season.
Reese Taylor’s 2026 outlook with the Broncos
Taylor saw the most NFL action of his career last season with the Broncos. For him to do that again this season, Taylor will look for a breakthrough on special teams.
Given the depth Denver has at cornerback, it’ll be incredibly difficult for Taylor to crack the roster that way. There are just so many guys ahead of him who not only have experience but are talented. That’s tough for someone like Taylor toward the bottom of the depth chart.
That’s not to say it’s impossible, but he’d have to have an epic training camp and preseason.
In his college career at Purdue (2022) and Indiana (2018-21), Taylor saw action in over 53 games. He totaled 108 tackles, 18 passes defensed, three interceptions, and one forced fumble.
In his lone season at Purdue in 2022, he finished with 34 tackles, one tackle for loss, five passes defensed, and one interception.
Taylor also earned All-Big 10 honorable mention honors as a return specialist after returning nine punts for 73 yards (8.1 avg.) and one kickoff for 21 yards.
Final thoughts
The path is there for Taylor to see some action for the Broncos this season.
After playing in four games in 2025, if he can flash enough over the course of training camp and the preseason, he could become a regular on special teams.
Since Denver has so much depth at cornerback, that’s the most likely way Taylor gets on the field for the Broncos in 2026.
