Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo, who is now a Top 10 contender at 135 pounds, was involved in a serious auto accident earlier today in Brazil. Fortunately, Figueiredo was able to escape
the wreck without any serious injuries and is not expected to miss any time away from the Octagon.
“Thank God for the deliverance,” Figueiredo wrote on Instagram. “I had an accident today. I was following on Quintino Bocaiuva Street, going towards Gentil Bitencount. A lady at high speed, apparently seemed to be on the run, emerged from a secondary street, named Caripuna hitting the middle of my vehicle that I had flipped over several times.”
Here’s video of the aftermath.
Scary stuff.
The 37 year-old Figueiredo was able to rebound from back-to-back losses with a split decision victory over Montel Jackson at UFC Rio earlier this month in Brazil. As it stands, the former flyweight champ is expected to make his Octagon return at some point in early 2026.
