After just three weeks of action, it is safe to say that the Cleveland Browns’ 2025 draft class is something special. From defensive standouts Mason Graham and Carson Schwesinger to offensive contributors like Quinshon Judkins and Harold Fannin Jr., there is so much to be excited about with this group.
Andrew Berry has received a significant amount of criticism over the years, in large part due to the controversial trade for Deshaun Watson in the 2022 offseason. It was a franchise-altering trade and
certainly has not produced the kind of return the organization was hoping for. Given the magnitude of that trade, much of the criticism of Berry is fair.
Due to the trade for Watson, Berry had limited draft assets to work with for multiple seasons. The 2025 draft was the first time in several seasons that he was able to make a first-round selection, and early returns suggest that he made the right choice. Graham has improved with each performance and is making his presence known on the defensive line alongside Myles Garrett.
Cleveland acquired the pick that turned into Judkins through trading down from the second pick, and that decision already looks like a win (with a first-round pick in 2026 left to be used to complete the deal). Schwesinger has been flying around the field and is already in the conversation for Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Fannin is shaping up to be a valuable weapon for this Browns offense.
If the performances from this rookie class continue, it is fair to acknowledge that Berry deserves credit for his ability to draft well – especially when he has the resources to work with.
