Kenny Omega was stretchered out of the 2300 Arena during the closing segment of last night’s episode of Dynamite. The injury angle seemingly ruled him out as a potential challenger for AEW World Champion Hangman Page at the upcoming All Out pay-per-view on September 20 in Toronto.
A new report from Fightful Select says Omega will indeed miss the pay-per-view, as he already had planned time off and will be
traveling to Japan. AEW sources confirmed the stretcher job was done on Dynamite to explain his absence in kayfabe. Even though Omega is wrestling in pain, that is not related to why he was written off TV and won’t be on the All Out card.
All Out is airing on the same date as WWE’s ESPN launch with its Wrestlepalooza PLE. WWE seems to be loading up that card with John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar, as well as the long-awaited return of AJ Lee for a mixed tag team match with CM Punk against Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins.
Meanwhile, Omega is the latest AEW top star who will reportedly miss All Out, following injuries to Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland. It looks like AEW’s answer to WWE’s loaded PLE card will be a PPV where a Don Callis Family henchman like TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher challenges Hangman for the world title. I suppose Tony Khan is relying on fka Edge and Christian Cage vs. FTR to bring more of the star power that appears to be missing from the world title match.
