It’s not yet officially confirmed, but according to reports, the Nicolas Jackson deal was completed ahead of the deadline hour at 7pm BST (8pm CEST) tonight, and he will be a Bayern Munich player going forward. Presumably the deal won’t actually be announced until the morning at this point.
One part of this
striker shuffle and re-shuffle that did get officially confirmed was the recall of Marc Guiu from Sunderland, after barely a month there. Guiu joined the Premier League newcomers at the start of August, and would go on to make three appearances with one goal scored in their League Cup second round exit. That appearance does mean that he’s unfortunately cup-tied for us in that competition, but otherwise he should be able to deputize for Liam Delap while he recovers from his hamstring injury. Guiu scored six times in nine UEFA Conference League matches last season before missing most of the second half of the season with injury, so hopefully he can build on that success this year.
“This has been an unusual situation to navigate, and our priority must always be to act in the best interests of Sunderland AFC. Following discussions with Chelsea, Marc, and his representatives throughout the last 48 hours, we believe we have achieved this outcome and that this decision is in the best interests of all parties. We wish Marc well upon returning to Chelsea, who we continue to enjoy a strong relationship with, and we now move forward.”

Welcome back, Marc!
