Did you know the Minnesota Vikings haven’t yet hired a new general manager to replace the ousted Kwesi Adofo-Mensah? We’re in early May and the search is only really beginning in earnest following the NFL Draft. One of the names on Minnesota’s radar is a longtime Seahawks executive.
Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported on Thursday that the Vikings have requested permission to interview assistant general manager Nolan Teasley.
Teasley was promoted to assistant general manager during the 2023 offseason, having spent several seasons prior as director of pro personnel. He’s been with the Seahawks since 2013, when he was a scouting department intern. If by any chance he’s the guy for the Vikings, he’ll have started and finished his time in Seattle with Super Bowl winning seasons.
This would be the first time Teasley has interviewed for an NFL GM position, but it’s not like he’s a totally anonymous figure. When The Athletic did a survey of NFL agents two years ago, Teasley received a couple of votes as “best talent evaluator.” Even if Teasley doesn’t get the Vikings job, it seems he could find himself in charge of a front office sooner rather than later.
Minnesota has cast a wide net for its search, including assistant GMs for the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams.
The last John Schneider assistant to become a general manager elsewhere was Scott Fitterer of the Carolina Panthers. That experience didn’t go well, but his replacement is another former Seahawks FO exec in Dan Morgan, and things are on the up-and-up in Charlotte.
