As it stands, Iowa State currently has 14 players in the NFL who are on official depth charts. In these weekly articles, you will be able to see how each player did over their past game in the NFL.
Will McDonald (Jets)
Week 2 was not friendly to Will McDonald. Not only did he struggle against the Bills, but on Saturday, he was fined $14,491 for a “violent gesture.” However, on Sunday, he recorded 40 snaps on defense with just one pressure. To be fair to McDonald, he was going against Dion Dawkins,
the left tackle for the Bills, who is one of the best in the league.
Breece Hall (Jets):
It wasn’t just McDonald who struggled against the Bills, but instead the entire roster. Even Breece Hall couldn’t get things going for the Jets. Hall totaled 30 snaps out of the 47 possible snaps from the Jets’ offense. He finished with 10 rushing attempts for 29 yards, along with three targets, two catches, and nine receiving yards.
Kene Nwangwu (Jets):
Nwangwu did not play Week 2 due to a hamstring injury.
Allen Lazard (Jets):
Week 2 was the first game for Lazard this season, after dealing with a lower-body injury. He was able to participate in 22 snaps for the offense, though he didn’t record any stats.
Charlie Kolar (Ravens):
Kolar played 33 snaps on offense and 11 on special teams against the Browns in Week 2. He did not record a target or catch.
TJ Tampa (Ravens):
Tampa finished the game with one tackle and one assisted tackle during his 16 snaps on defense. He also playeed 22 snaps on special teams.
Jake Hummel (Ravens):
Hummel came up big for the Ravens early in the second quarter. With just a 3-0 lead and a slow start for the offense, Hummel was able to bully his way through and block the punt. The Ravens later scored on that offensive drive. Hummel played 26 snaps on special teams as well.
Xavier Hutchinson (Texans):
On Monday Night Football, Hutchinson looked like the WR2 for the Texans. He was targeted three times, which was the third most from the skill players. Hutchinson caught two of those passes for a total of 29 yards. He was able to play 28 snaps on offense and two on special teams in the 19-20 loss aganist the Bucs.
Jaylin Noel (Texans):
With just 15 snaps on offense, Noel’s production didn’t come from the offensive side of the ball, but instead special teams. Noel returned three punts for 67 total yards, including a 53-yard return late in the game to set up the Texans to take a late lead.
Jayden Higgins (Texans):
Jayden Higgins caught just one ball for 28 yards in last night’s loss. He was able to play 21 snaps on offense. Shoutout to NFL Brasil for being the lone account to post his catch!
Jalen Travis (Colts):
Jalen Travis didn’t get any work on offense but did record eight snaps on special teams.
David Montgomery (Lions):
Montgomery took part in the explosive offense this past Sunday for the Lions. On 11 attempts, Montgomery rushed for 57 yards, along with reaching the endzone. In the passing game, he was targeted once, which he caught for four yards.
Brock Purdy (49ers):
Due to his current turf toe injury, Purdy was not able to play in Week 2. Despite no Purdy, the 49ers were able to hold on and beat the Saints 26-21.
Malik Verdon (Falcons):
Malik Verdon has yet to play a snap in the regular season for the Falcons. In the preseason, Verdon missed all of training camp due to an undisclosed issue. The Falcons added Verdon to the reserve/non-football injury and he will miss the first four games of the season.
Darien Porter (Raiders):
Darien Porter started last night at cornerback for the Raiders. As of today, snap counts aren’t official from the late-night Monday game. From watching the game, Porter was not targeted a lot (which, for a reminder, is a very good thing for a defensive player) and didn’t record a tackle.
Eyioma Uwazurike (Broncos):
Okay, now up Eyioma Uwazurike and let’s see how he did………oh my goddddddd he did what?????
Yaaaaa, so not exactly what you want to see. As a person who had Broncos ML, I can confirm this was the worst moment of my life. Besides the “penalty” (I think that was a soft call), Uwazurike finished the game with one tackle and one assisted tackle.
Practice Squad Players:
Ben Nikkel (Colts Practice Squad)
Myles Purchase (Chargers Practice Squad)
JR Singleton (Seahawks Practice Squad)
Julian Good-Jones (Commanders) (Currently listed on the IR, and once activated from the IR, the Commanders can choose to add him to the roster and keep him on the Practice Squad)
