Barcelona have put together a strong squad for the 2026-27 season after a busy summer in the transfer window, meaning Hansi Flick has plenty of options, particularly in midfield.
The German coach has Pedri, Rodri, Gavi, Marc Bernal, Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez to call upon currently, while Frenkie de Jong is currently out injured but will return in the coming months.
Xavi Espart is also known primarily as a midfielder but has made his breakthrough into the first team at left-back this season and may
well end up staying there given the options in the middle of the park.
While the presence of so many talented midfielders is obviously a blessing it may also cause a few issues, particularly when it comes to keeping everybody happy.
Gavi has played just twice so far this season, although he has also spent time out with a knock, while Olmo has had to content himself with just two starts.
Rodri’s arrival may also mean Bernal will have to be patient as he bids for a starting spot at Barcelona, and Brian Farinas – who has been promoted to the senior squad – faces a real battle for minutes.
So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
Can Hansi Flick keep all his midfielders happy this season or does he have too many options?
