Alejandro Balde offered his reaction to the news that Dro Fernández is set to leave Barcelona and join PSG in a bombshell decision made late last week.
Dro caught the entire club by surprise when he informed
his decision to leave in search of more playing time, and he’s widely expected to be confirmed as Paris Saint-Germain’s new signing in the coming days. Hansi Flick gave his two cents on the situation last weekend, and Balde was asked about the topic in a press conference in Prague on Tuesday.
Balde says he respects Dro’s decision and thinks he can succeed at PSG because of his quality, and praised the youngster as a person and friend.
“Every player has his career and thinks differently. Decisions must be respected. I wish him the best, I’m sure he will do very well because he has a lot of quality. I got along very well with him, he’s a great guy. I hope everyone respects his decision.”
Balde is certainly right that we have no choice but to respect a young man’s decision if he thinks that’s what’s best for his career, and once Dro’s exit is official I certainly wish him nothing but the best in Paris, even though the decision certainly appears a little strange and driven by more than just the desire to play more minutes.
