Dro Fernandez has sent out a farewell message to Barcelona fans after completing a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
The midfielder sent shockwaves through the club earlier this month when he told Hansi
Flick he wanted to leave in the January transfer window.
Fernandez is thought to have made the decision after being eager for more first-team minutes and has now signed a deal with PSG.
He’s said his goodbyes on Instagram and says it was “one of the hardest decisions” of his life to leave Camp Nou.
“Hello Barça fans, I arrived at La Masia when I was just fourteen years old, dreaming of one day wearing the Barça first team shirt. After almost four unforgettable seasons, today I have to make one of the hardest decisions of my life: to say goodbye to the club that has been my home for the last few years.
“I leave behind many friendships, lessons learned, and memories that will always be with me. I will be eternally grateful to everyone at the club and, especially, to my teammates, for every moment we shared on and off the pitch. It’s difficult to put into words everything I feel for this club and this city, which I will always carry in my heart.
“Although I’m taking a different path today, I will continue to support and cheer you on like any other fan, wherever I am. Barça and La Masia have not only been part of my journey, but they will live forever within me. Thank you for everything. Long live Barça and long live Catalonia, always.”
Fernandez has penned a deal until 2030 with Luis Enrique’s side and will wear the No. 27 shirt at Parc des Princes.
