The Cincinnati Reds dropped their Cactus League opener on Saturday as the Cleveland Guardians downed them to the tune of 4 to 2. The good news, though, is twofold.
For one, the final score of these games means absolutely nothing right now.
Second, today the Reds are actually rolling out a lineup full of their biggest stars.
Cincinnati will roll out the likes of TJ Friedl, Matt McLain, Elly De La Cruz, Eugenio Suarez, and Spencer Steer atop their lineup in Sunday afternoon’s contest against the Seattle
Mariners in Goodyear, with talented young righty Jose Franco taking the mound to begin the day. To a significantly lesser extent of excitement, each of Jose Trevino, Ke’Bryan Hayes, JJ Bleday, and Rece Hinds will round out a lineup full of players owning significant big league experience as the Reds begin to work through all of their options currently in camp.
First pitch is slated for 3:05 PM ET, though sadly this one will not be televised by either the Reds or Mariners. To follow along, you’ll need to head over to 700 WLW for audio, or tap into that feed to listen along via MLB.com.
Hat tip to Doug Gray of Redleg Nation for relaying today’s travel roster, which suggests we’ll see some combination of Graham Ashcraft, Connor Phillips, and a lot of the rest of the projected bullpen available to chuck some heaters today, too.
Go Reds!
