The Buffalo Bills defeated the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night, thanks to a field goal in overtime to secure a 37-34 victory. Despite the shortcomings of the Bills defense, the offense once again stepped up behind the play of Josh Allen.
As a fan, it often feels as if the offense steps up when the Bills defense falters against some of the NFL’s top clubs. Sometimes I take these feelings with a grain of salt, as I can sometimes overreact when it comes to the defensive shortcomings of the team. But
every once in awhile there is a statistic that shows I have not been overreacting, and that feeling in your gut has been warranted.
That statistic comes courtesy of WTF Sports on X/Twitter, who shared that the Bills have won their last 8 games since allowing 31+ games per contest.
This streak goes back almost two years ago, and started with the Bills 48-42 victory over the Detroit Lions in December 2024. The fact that the Bills have given up 31+ points in a third of their past 24 regular season games is a conversation for another day.
It should also be noted that the Bills have given up 31+ points in two other games this season – a 36-31 Week 1 win over the Houston Texans, and a 41-31 week two victory over the Lions. While the Bills lack of defense has certainly been frustrating, it has certainly led to some exciting football so far this season.
