Backfire!
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight prospect Azamat Bekoev suffered a stunning upset loss to promotional newcomer Yousri Belgaroui at UFC Vancouver this past weekend (Sat., Oct.
18, 2025), getting stopped in the third round inside Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (watch highlights).
Heading into the event, Bekoev was viewed as a potential future contender in the division after running through his first two UFC opponents with ease (watch highlights). The 29-year-old even vowed to stay active and take on “the guys no one wants to fight.”
Bekoev got into brief spat with Joe Pyfer leading into his fight.
When Pyfer withdrew from his fight with Kelvin Gastelum due to illness, Bekoev mocked him by posting a video saying, “Hey Joey boy, take your medicine,” while holding a box of Gas-X and eating tacos — a jab at Pyfer’s stomach issues. To be fair, the comment came in response to Pyfer calling him a “bitch with a padded record.”
Well, Pyfer definitely got the last laugh. After Bekoev’s loss, Pyfer posted a photo of him on Instagram with the caption, “Bekoev is shit like I said. Padded”

Ouch. Pyfer is known for keeping receipts on anyone who talks trash — fighters and fans alike — and he wasted no time pulling this one from the archives.
Bekoev (20-4) saw his eight-fight win streak snapped at UFC Vancouver, falling as one of the night’s biggest betting favorites at -300.
Following the loss, the 29-year-old issued an apology to fans on social media.
“Sorry guys for that performance,” Bekoev wrote. “But I will always remember my trip to Canada. Nothing but love.”
