Max Eberl and the rest of Bayern Munich’s management team has been ridiculed for suggesting that Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Hiroki Itō are similar to January transfers because all three players
missed the majority of the Hinrunde with injuries. While this is not technically true, all three players have resumed training. Davies and Itō played limited rotational minutes in December as well.
Vincent Kompany is likely to use a variety of rotational and academy players in Tuesday’s friendly against Red Bull Salzburg. However, there is a decent chance that Bayern has every senior squad player available for next weekend’s Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg.
Manuel Neuer was clearly overworked in the Hinrunde and amplified the need to cede minutes to Jonas Urbig. The return of Davies and Itō should push Tom Bischof into the midfield rotation, especially given the rumors that Bayern is actively shopping Leon Goretzka.
