The Pittsburgh Steelers have long been rumored to be in the market for a proven veteran No. 2 wide receiver. Names like Chris Olave and Terry McLaurin have been attached to the Steelers in terms of Pittsburgh reaching out and showing interest in a potential trade. Well, you can scratch the latter off the list.
Per Jordan Schultz, the Washington Commanders and McLaurin have agreed to a three-year, $96 million extension.
“The Commanders and All-Pro WR Terry McLaurin have agreed to a 3-year extension
worth over $96M, multiple sources tell me,” Schultz reports. “The deal is done and “Scary Terry” gets his well-deserved payday — while Jayden Daniels gets his star receiver back in his arsenal.“
While it felt unlikely that the Commanders would actually move off their star receiver, especially after finally finding a franchise quarterback in Jayden Daniels and making it to the NFC Championship Game, many were hopeful that a deal could potentially get done.
In terms of remaining logical names the Steelers could sign, Gabe Davis remains atop that list. He has visited Pittsburgh twice this offseason and would fit into Arthur Smith’s scheme well. Amari Cooper is the best remaining free agent and is also a name to lightly circle.
