Award week keeps moving, as we enter the back half and the biggest named awards coming tonight and tomorrow: the Cy Young and MVP announcements. The Yankees have some down-ballot votes likely coming for
Max Fried, but he didn’t wind up finishing inside the top three for the AL field so his name won’t be called tonight, meaning all eyes remain glued on who will win the AL MVP tomorrow. Still, it’ll be nice to see if Fried can muster up a top five finish after an excellent first year in the Bronx.
While we’re waiting around for the award to be announced, we’ve got a couple things to tide you over. Peter gives us a free agent target on Framber Valdez, who could slot in as another playoff-caliber arm to add to the arsenal that the Yankees have built up for this upcoming season. Then, John delivers a report card to Camilo Doval, encompassing his rough start to his pinstriped career as well as his strong finish. Later in the night, Jeff will be around to give an update on where Fried actually finished in the Cy race once the winner is revealed.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Where will Max Fried wind up placing in the Cy Young standings once the winner is announced tonight?
2. Who wins the award outright in the AL and NL?
