Back to “no future”: It’s #NübelOut for Bayern…if Neuer re-ups (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg via @iMiaSanMia)
According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich has made a decision on the future of Alexander Nübel, who is on loan at VfB Stuttgart again this season.
If Manuel Neuer
extends his contract for another season, the Bavarians will seek to sell Nübel:
Alexander Nübel has no future left at FC Bayern if Manuel Neuer extends his contract once more. Then he will definitely be a transfer candidate next summer. His contract still runs until 2030. Stuttgart will not keep him.
As it stands, Neuer seems like a shoo-in to play at least one more season, which should seal the deal on Nübel. Moreover, Jonas Urbig looks more and more like the eventual successor to Neuer as well. There just might not be room on the roster for Nübel any longer.
It is crazy to think that some folks wrote Neuer off four years ago! The captain just keeps picking himself up off the canvas and battling like hell. So far, so good with the veteran as he has been excellent this season.
Milan getting more serious about Lewandowski (ESPN)
Things could be heating up for AC Milan with regard to rumors of its pursuit of FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski:
AC Milan want to sign Robert Lewandowski as a free agent when Barcelona striker’s contract expires in the summer, Tuttosport reports. The Rossoneri believe that the Poland international, 37, can further strengthen a winning mentality that coach Massimiliano Allegri and veteran midfielder Luka Modric have helped to develop. The latter has been so influential that Milan have already decided that they want to take up the option of a one-year renewal of the 40-year-old’s contract.
Rummenigge reminisces on old days of Bayern’s leadership structure (Tz via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge thought back about the olden days of the club’s leadership structure.
“Franz (Beckenbauer), Karl (Hopfner), Uli, and myself. This team was unique, a true unit. Even when we had different interests, we discussed things until a decision was made. Never, ever, did anyone stand up afterward and say, ‘I told you so.’ For me, it was always crucial that FC Bayern remain stable,” Rummenigge said. “Over the past 20 years, we’ve overcome every crisis together – and in doing so, you get to know the people you can truly rely on: Franz Beckenbauer, Uli Hoeneß, Karl Hopfer, and later Herbert Hainer and Jan-Christian Dreesen. They are all loyal and were there when it mattered, always having the club’s best interests at heart.”
City could have Brown compete for time (ESPN)
Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown is quickly becoming one of the more sought-after left-backs as there is another rumor linking the 22-year-old to Manchester City:
Eintracht Frankfurt left back Nathaniel Brown is on Manchester City’s shortlist, says Bild. Brown, 22, made his senior debut for the Germany national team in October and has impressed in the Bundesliga this season after joining the club from FC Nürnberg in 2024. City are looking for competition for Nico O’Reilly and Rayan Aït-Nouri on the left side of defense.
Will the young German national team player become the next rising star to leave Eintracht Frankfurt?
Host of teams lining up for Boey? (Ekrem Konur)
Bayern Munich right back Sacha Boey really might end up being a big target for other clubs in January:
🚨🆕#Exclusive 🇫🇷 #BayernMunich
Bayern will list Sacha Boey for sale in January.👀 Galatasaray, Juventus, Monaco, Lyon, West Ham, Palace, and Sevilla are watching.
▪️Boey prefers Premier (Editor’s Note: corrected spelling) League, La Liga or Ligue 1.
Happy trails my guy (and don’t let the door hit you)! Seriously, though, Bayern Munich should absolutely cash out on Boey. The fee will not likely be much, but Bayern Munich should take whatever it can get.
Roma still in on Zirkzee (ESPN)
Former Bayern Munich prospect Joshua Zirkzee might be a focal point for AS Roma in the coming months:
Roma want to sign Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee on loan, but the Red Devils want to include a clause to make the deal permanent for €30 million, reports Corriere dello Sport. AC Milan would also be interested in a deal for the 24-year-old Netherlands international and if they get involved, then Roma could turn their attention to Nottingham Forest’s Arnaud Kalimuendo, Cologne’s Said El Mala, or could activate the €7m release clause for Racing Santander’s Jeremy Arevalo.
Zirkzee’s move to Manchester United was puzzling for every reason except his willingness to take the big paycheck that the Red Devils were offering. The striker clearly was not ready for that move or for that level of play, but Manchester United has become adept at bringing in center-forwards who just do not fit its squad.
