Barcelona have confirmed an agreement has been reached to extend Hamza Abdelkarim’s contract with the club until 2030.
The young Egyptian arrived in the January transfer window on loan, but the club made the move permanent in June on a three-year contract.
Barcelona have made taken steps to improve Abdelkarim’s contract after an impressive start to life at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona have reportedly raised the striker’s release clause from €15 million to €150m in a bid to ward off any potential admirers.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“FC Barcelona and the player Hamza Abdelkarim have reached an agreement to renew the Egyptian footballer’s contract until June 30, 2030. The signature of the renewal will be announced on Tuesday, September 15, at 5:00 p.m., in an event that will be held in the office of the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta.”
Abdelkarim has enjoyed first-team minutes this season, featuring as a substitute against Rayo, and will be hoping for more as the campaign progresses.
