Training camp and preseason are ahead, while free agency and the draft are behind us. That makes this a relatively quiet time of the year for the Falcons, and while some of you are here every day talking about the team (and thank you for that), you’ve got to fill the hours in other ways.
So for this sleepy Saturday morning in June, I ask: What are your offseason hobbies? What do you do when you’re not thinking about, talking about, or watching the Atlanta Falcons?
I’ll go first: When COVID-19 hit,
my day job’s office shut down and I was working from home full-time. That meant I suddenly had the ability to get outside on my lunch break and in the early evening, and given that I had been way too sedentary for way too long, I started going on long walks as often as I could. Those walks brought me by ponds and rivers in town, and I kept seeing cool things and thinking “man, I wish I could get a good photo of that.”
So I bought a cheap camera, started dabbling in nature photography, slowly upgraded my gear and got better at it, and that’s been my consistent offseason hobby ever since. I’m the weird guy in town who’s always roaming around pointing a lens at something, but I get fun shots sometimes like these:
