Good morning New York Giants fans! Happy Saturday and welcome to Week 6 of the 2026 college football season!
We have some awesome games on the schedule today, including one that could be the game of the year and a National Championship preview. I said last week that we’re getting into the meat of the schedule and this week could give us some must-watch scouting tape for the draft process. You always love to see “good against good” matchups, and we’ll get plenty of matchups between future NFL players
today.
As usual we’re going to concentrate on positions of perceived need for the Giants. In this case, we’ll be spotlighting an offensive and defensive lineman.
So without further ado, let’s get to it!
(14) Missouri vs. Texas A&M
ABC – noon
Player spotlight: Cayden Green (OT, Missouri)
The Giants are pretty well set along the offensive line, at least for the moment. However, Green is an intriguing player in the mold of Sisi Mauigoa who could change the Giants’ plans if he slips to the second day. Green started his career at left guard and played the position for two years before moving out to left tackle. He reportedly measures in at 6-foot-5, 325 pounds and has the movement skills to play tackle as well as the power to play on the interior.
Missouri has a formidable run game, and we know a big, powerful, and athletic lineman who’s a solid pass protector and powerful run blocker will appeal to the Giants. They can’t (easily) move on from Jon Runyan Jr. until after 2027, but the Giants might not want to wait if the value is right.
Oklahoma vs. (1) Texas
ABC – 3:30 p.m.
Player spotlight: Hero Kanu (DT, Texas)
Let’s get this out of the way right now: First Team All Name.
Kanu has an interesting biography as a German-American and a relative latecomer to football. Kanu grew up in the small town of Geltendorf, which is just west of Munich, and was grew up a soccer player. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many 6-foot-5, 309 pound soccer players (even as a goalie), but Kanu eventually discovered American rules football and decided to swap fußball for football. He moved to America for the chance to play for a major college and eventually enrolled at Ohio State. He spent the first three years of his collegiate career at OSU before transferring to Texas in 2025.
Kanu is only credited with 8 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks in his college career, but his production has improved since transferring to Texas and becoming a starter. He was a real problem for Tennessee last week and a consistent presence in the Vol’s backfield as a disruptive force.
The Giants will need to continue to build their defensive tackle rotation, and Kanu could be see his profile rise if he continues to stack games like he had against Tennessee.
(6) Alabama vs. (2) Georgia
ABC – 7:30 p.m.
(Note: the game is still scheduled to be played as of this writing. Hurricane Isaias is bearing down on the Gulf Coast and is expected to make landfall as a Category 2 hurricane.)
I’m deviating from this year’s format for this game, because there’s simply far far too much talent on the field in this game to spotlight a single player. This feels like the matchups between these two teams from a couple years ago, when there were NFL players everywhere you looked and often going against each other. It’s entirely possible that this winds up being one of the best games of the year and a preview of the National Championship.
This is one of those games where my best advice is to watch, enjoy, and take note of the players who jump off the screen.
