According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Coach McNamara and the Orange will be making an early-season trip to Indianapolis to take on the Indiana Hoosiers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers.
The game is scheduled for Monday, November 9, 2026, and will likely be either the team’s second or third contest of the season. While it is officially designated as a neutral-site matchup, the atmosphere is expected to strongly favor Indiana.
This marks the second game on Syracuse’s schedule next season that will be played in an NBA arena, with the Orange traveling farther than their opponent. It has already been announced that Syracuse will also face Providence at TD Garden in Boston next season as well.
This also means that of the team’s 13 non-conference games on the season, at least five of them, with the team heading back to Vegas for the Players Era Tournament, will take place outside of the Dome. On top of that, if history repeats itself, the Orange will be on the road for this upcoming season’s ACC/SEC Challenge as well.
It is clear that Coach McNamara already has the gears turning, and it seems like it is also clear that the university wants to have more opportunities to improve its NET rankings early in the season, and doing so away from the Dome.
Thoughts on the team and their scheduling so far, especially with more games being slated to be away from the Dome? Is this a good or bad thing for the Orange?
