Andrew Abbott will take the mound at Great American Ball Park and chuck the first pitch of the 2026 regular season for the Cincinnati Reds today. He’ll do so with budding Boston Red Sox superstar Roman Anthony in the box against him, as that’s who will lead off for Cincinnati’s opposition today.
First pitch is slated for 4:10 PM ET in near summer conditions, as it’s currently 80 degrees and sunny outside in the Queen City.
American League Cy Young Award runner-up Garrett Crochet will be on the bump
for Boston, and the Reds have stacked their lineup accordingly against the southpaw (with the exception of TJ Friedl, who’ll still lead off on the day).
Lineups for both clubs are listed below, as manager Terry Francona takes on the franchise where he had so much of his Hall of Fame success earlier in his career.
Happy Baseball New Year, folks. Go Reds!
