It is important to never forget one’s roots. Manuel Neuer’s roots are in Schalke. Leon Goretzka’s roots are in Bochum. And Joshua Kimmich’s roots are in Rottweil, an area in Baden-Württemberg that houses around 25,000 inhabitants. And now it is home to the “Kimmich Academy.”
@iMiaSanMia captured the Bayern Munich player’s initiative:
Joshua Kimmich has opened his own football academy. The “Kimmich Academy” in Rottweil, the player’s hometown, is designed to give local kids aged 6 to 14 the opportunity
to train at the highest level, all without having to leave their home region, family or hometown club.
Kimmich: “I have experienced firsthand how important it is to have the right conditions to develop – from a sporting and personal perspective. This academy is a place where kids can pursue their careers in football without having to leave their familiar environment.”
This is a kind gesture from a man who is known to give back to the community (remember We Kick Corona?). Hopefully this intiative is a big success.
