Michigan got some more good news on Wednesday afternoon, as junior offensive tackle Andrew Sprague announced via X that he will be returning to the program in 2026.
Sprague had initially entered the transfer portal back on January 2 and didn’t play in the Citrus Bowl against Texas, but is opting to stick around for his third season with the program and the first under new head coach Kyle Whittingham and offensive line coach Jim Harding. There had reportedly been some serious interest from Texas, but Michigan was able to get a big win by keeping one of their best offensive linemen in the fold.
The addition of Sprague back to the roster for 2026 continues a string of returns that Michigan has gotten over the last few days, including the fourth along the offensive line, as Andrew Babalola, Evan Link, and Jake Guarnera had all announced they’d be back in recent days.
Sprague was an All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2025 and adds to what is shaping up to be a more experienced and still talented unit up front next season. By keeping some solid players around, Whittingham and company are showing that they’ve been able to quickly win over the players and the donors, building more and more optimism for what the Wolverines will be able to do next season.
