According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Daniel Jones is dealing with a fractured fibula that he played through last weekend on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs:
“Daniel Jones was added to the injury report in Week 12 with a fibula injury, one he played through during a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
It turns out, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback is dealing with a fractured fibula, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday.
Rapoport added that
it’s an injury Jones is not concerned about, per a source.
Jones was listed as limited in Wednesday’s practice and upgraded to a full participant on Thursday ahead of a big game against the division’s reigning two-time champions, the Houston Texans, on Sunday.”
The Colts veteran quarterback returned from the BYE week being listed on the injury report ahead of last weekend’s game with a calf injury—and was a limited participant in practice at one point before being upgraded to full. While Jones played through the injury, he was moving a bit gingerly out there. It’s since been reported and clarified as a fractured fibula, which explains why Jones was slightly more hobbled than expected on the field.
Having had durability concerns during his prior tenure with the New York Giants, his injury status is worth monitoring, especially with the Colts clinging to the top spot in the AFC South at 8-3 and some critical divisional games coming up during the season’s final stretch run—starting this weekend hosting the Houston Texans (6-5).
