Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong feels his team still have some way to go until they hit top form after Saturday’s 3-1 win over Elche.
The Dutchman impressed in the victory and teed up the second goal
for Ferran Torres after Lamine Yamal had opened the scoring.
Substitute Marcus Rashford then finished off Elche, with De Jong proud of his team’s performance.
“I don’t think we’ve reached our peak yet. But we’re still playing as a team, which is important,” he told the media.
“We usually have players who finish very well. We’re creating chances. Elche is a brave team and plays well. That’s how football is more fun for people.
“I like it when the game is open and there’s more space. If we win, I’ll enjoy the game. We have many high-level players and everyone on the squad is good.”
Barcelona’s win means they move four points clear at the top of the table ahead of Real Madrid’s game against Rayo on Sunday.
