Hummels thinks Germany is good, but needs some work and luck (MagentaTV’s Victor Catalina)
Former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels had what the kids might consider a based opinion of Germany’s World Cup squad and chances.
“For me, it’s a squad without any major controversies. The big question was really just whether Manuel Neuer would be part of it now. And on that front, expectations over the last one or two weeks were that he would be there—as long as he stays healthy. Then there are two or three 50/50 decisions,” the 2014 World Cup winner said. “I’m thinking of (Nadiem)
Amiri and (Pascal) Groß and Malick Thiaw, who were up for debate, where others could have come along too. But in my view, they’re not hugely spectacular or controversial. They’re more like players who won’t be in the starting lineup but still have a shot at playing time.
“The squad is generally just what it has been in recent years: Good, but not a top favorite for the World Cup title. But good enough to pull it off anyway. Still, with a few areas to work on, like any team has. If you nail those, you have a real chance to play a damn good tournament.”
Hummels seems like he has a pretty good read on things. The first preview of the squad will be on Sunday against Finland. Will Germany be ready?
Atlético Madrid seems like it is sick of Barca already this summer (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
FC Barcelona was rumored to have had submitted a bid for Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, which seems to not have been well received by Atléti:
🚨⚠️ Atletico Madrid are not intentioned to accept €100m as valuation to let Julián Álvarez go.
Barcelona are prepared to return to the table soon, Julián’s camp already made clear to Atléti that he wants to leave.
Well, about returning to the table. Another bid will also not be welcomed based on this posts:
HERE WE GO! We have sent a fax to@FCBarcelona_es
with our transfer offer: 4 tickets for tomorrow’s Bad Bunny concert, an annual subscription to ABC, and a bag of sunflower seeds. We eagerly await the response to prepare the ‘announce’.
HERE WE GO! For this second offer we’ve had a problem, we’ve run out of tickets for tomorrow’s concert, so we improve the previous proposal with 6 for the one on Sunday.
HERE WE GO! And to complete the 3×1, we’ve gotten all carried away and we’re going to throw the little house out the window: the player arrives on loan for a season and in exchange we loan out Tom Ford and Smith with no option to buy. An offer impossible to refuse.
I know this is a new age, but this just comes off as lame — and I am no Barca fan. It’s just stupid. Who do these clubs have running their brand?
United trying to bring back Fernandes (ESPN)
Manchester United is going to try to bring back Bruno Fernandes:
Manchester United have started talks with Bruno Fernandes over a new contract, reports transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano. The United captain has a deal at Old Trafford until 2027, but after recently setting a new Premier League single-season assist record (21), club officials are looking to reward the midfielder. Initial discussions are believed to have taken place, with United keen to fend off interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Europe for the 31-year-old amid a clause in his existing deal that mean he is available for £57 million.
Journo says Mourinho wasn’t at Pokal to watch Olise (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Last weekend, José Mourinho made a surprise appearance at the DFB-Pokal and the rumors was that “The Special One” was there to personally get an eye on Bayern Munich star Michael Olise.
Well, Sport Bild’s Christian Falk says that is not the case:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Jose Mourinho was at the Olympiastadion to watch Michael Olise for Real Madrid. There was a really big rumour around, as everyone was thinking, “What is Mourinho doing there?” Indeed, he was not there on his own, nor was he there at the request of Bayern Munich. The Portuguese head coach was invited by VfB Stuttgart! The board member for sport, Fabian Wohlgemuth, has a close connection with Gestifute, Mourinho’s agency, and wanted to invite the Real Madrid coach to meet him and, perhaps, have talks about a few players from Stuttgart. Angelo Stiller, it’s worth noting, is still on the radar at Real Madrid. Perhaps he’s one reason. It was nice, of course, for Mourinho that he could see Michael Olise in Bayern’s fabulous red jersey. But in the end, Uli Hoeneß, the godfather of Bayern Munich, made it clear that Mourinho can come five times again to see the Frenchman play, but he won’t sign him!
Tedesco to Bologna (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
Former Schalke 04 and RB Leipzig boss Domenic Tedesco is headed to Bologna on a three-year contract:
Milan, Juve want Sørloth (Tuttosport via ESPN)
Both AC Milan and Juventus are taking a look at Atlético Madrid Alexander Sørloth:
