After taking down Fortuna Düsseldorf by a score of 1-0, Schalke 04 has clinched a berth in the Bundesliga for next season. Below, the Bundesliga made the announcement:
Schalke confirmed their return to the Bundesliga with a 1-0 victory over Fortuna Düsseldorf, ending their three-season stay in the second tier. Following their relegation from the Bundesliga in 2022/23, they have endured further reality checks, finishing 10th and 14th in successive campaigns. That led to the appointment of Miron Muslić
as head coach and a significant overhaul of the first-team squad last summer, decisions which have ultimately pushed Schalke up the table.

After the game, Edin Džeko talked about his decision to make the move to Schalke.
“I made the right decision with the move. Getting promoted and going to the World Cup with Bosnia is a dream. Maybe I wouldn’t have achieved that without Schalke,” Džeko said (as captured by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg).
Now we enjoy the moment. Now we celebrate. Have a few drinks. There is still plenty of time to think about what I will do next. When I see all of this, that’s why you play football. I don’t want to stop, I feel good. But I am 40 years old. Let’s see how I feel after the World Cup. Then we will sit down and talk again.”
Afterward, Schalke also announced a contract extension for head coach Miron Muslić:
