Barcelona are reportedly set to make a move for Spain star Aymeric Laporte after his impressive performances alongside Pau Cubarsi
in the heart of the backline at World Cup 2026.According to Diario Sport, Barcelona plan to get in touch with Laporte’s camp to ask about his intentions and whether he could be tempted to move to the Camp Nou.
The report adds that while Deco was in the USA for the World Cup there were “very early conversations” held and plans made to talk more after the end of the tournament.
Barcelona loved his performances at the World Cup, value his experience and also like his price tag. The report adds the 32-year-old’s release clause “is below 15 million euros.”
Laporte is seen a player who could have a similar impact to Inigo Martinez. The experienced defender came into the team and played a key role as Barcelona won a league and cup double in 2024-25.
Athletic Club sporting director Mikel González has already discussed speculation that Barca could move for Laporte this summer, insisting he won’t leave as he’s considered a key player.
