The New York Giants are adding former Baltimore Ravens defensive line coach Dennis Johnson to John Harbaugh’s coaching staff, per a report from NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
The 37-year-old Johnson was Baltimore’s
defensive line coach the past two seasons. That was Johnson’s first NFL job.
Johnson’s coaching career began in 2012. He coached at Northwestern State, LSU, and Baylor before jumping to the NFL with Harbaugh and the Ravens.
Johnson’s role was not announced, but it would likely be the same one on the defensive line he filled with the Ravens. That would make Johnson the replacement for Andre Patterson, the veteran defensive line coach let go recently as Harbaugh purged most of Brian Daboll’s Giants’ coaching staff.
Harbaugh is retaining outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen and tight ends coach Tim Kelly, but replacing everyone else.
Currently, the only other coach known to be coming from Baltimore to join Harbaugh is Ravens’ running backs coach Willie Taggart.
