Major news this morning as Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje has committed to Duke for 2026. Just 16, Boumtje-Boumtje won’t turn 17 until late next month.
A 7-footer, Boumtje-Boumtje has a well-rounded game. He’s been playing with FB Barcelona, but he’s actually from St. Petersburg, Florida.
Boumtje-Boumtje fits the Duke profile in several ways. He’s athletic, has a diverse offensive game, and while we can’t say yet, has the potential to be a very good defensive player.
His father, Ruben, is Cameroonian and played
college ball for Georgetown and spent time in the NBA.
Boumtje-Boumtje joins Cam Williams, Deron Rippey Jr., Bryson Howard and Maxime Meyer for another outstanding Duke class.
Here’s Duke’s roster for next season as of now:
- Caleb Foster
- Cayden Boozer
- Sebastian Wilkins
- Dame Sarr
- Patrick Ngongba
- Drew Scharnowski
- John Blackwell
- Cam Williams
- Deron Rippey Jr.
- Bryson Howard
- Maxime Meyer
That’s an amazingly deep team, and, as we’ve seen with Jon Scheyer, a big team, too.
- Boumtje-Boumtje was another center target for UNC, but has committed to Duke
- What to know about Duke commit Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje, 7-foot center with NBA dad who still hasn’t turned 17
