The Minnesota Vikings are still in Europe, which means we’re still being “treated” to watching them on Sunday mornings. Last week, they dropped a game to the Pittsburgh Steelers that wasn’t really as competitive as the 24-21 final score suggests. This week, they face off against the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns have made the… interesting decision to make a quarterback change. Third-round rookie Dillon Gabriel will head the Browns offense, but he faces an uphill battle. The Vikings defense, led by
innovative coordinator Brian Flores, sport the No. 1 pass defense by DVOA and EPA per dropback.
Of course, the Vikings offense is facing no cakewalk, either. We saw how difficult the Browns’ defensive front was to deal with last week when they faced the Detroit Lions. Now, Cleveland is facing off against a Vikings offensive line that is… well, in trouble.
The Vikings are 2-2 on the season, and probably don’t want to fall too far behind in the NFC North. And with the Bears and Packers on a bye, this would be an opportunity to jump both in the standings. Of course, if they lose, they’ll fall to the cellar of the division, no matter what the Lions do later in the day against the Cincinnati Bengals.
