The United States Women’s National Team are headed back to Florida to close out the year. Today, U.S. Soccer announced that the USWNT will face Italy in friendlies on November 28th at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando and at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on December 1st.
The USWNT haven’t played since July 2nd, when
they beat Canada in the Continental Clásico in Washington, DC. They have three matches coming up in the October international window, two against Portugal and one against New Zealand. Adding Italy, who are coming off a magical run to the Euro 2025 semifinals, gives the USWNT another tough set of matches to round out 2025.
“As we prepare for World Cup qualifying at the end of 2026, we want to play teams from all parts of the world with different styles and different strengths, so getting to play Italy, one of Europe’s up-and-coming teams, will be a great way to end the year,” USWNT head coach Emma Hayes said in a statement. “This has been a very productive year for our team, learning about each other while embracing our philosophies and standards, so we’re looking forward to two more games against a quality team to continue to grow.”
The USWNT haven’t faced Italy since the Women’s World Cup playoff series back in November 2010. The U.S. beat the Le Azzurre 2-0 on aggregate to qualify for the 2011 Women’s World Cup. With 2025 marking the 40th year of the United States Women’s National Team program, they will end the year by playing the team that they played in their first match, which spawned the “OOSA OOSA OOSA AH” chant that has been the rallying cry of the team for its entire existence. Italy is currently ranked 12th in the FIFA world rankings, and the USWNT hold a 10W-4L-1D record against them all-time. They will finish out the calendar year with yet another tough test down under the Florida lights.
