The Denver Broncos have announced they released offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton today.
Throckmorton entered the league as an undrafted free agent after the 2020 NFL Draft. He was picked up by then-New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton and remained with the team through 2023. He bounced around before rejoining Payton in Denver in 2024.
He’s been a versatile lineman and even filling in as center this preseason due to various injuries. We thought he could compete for a roster spot, but it would
be unlikely:
Calvin Throckmorton should be attempting to take over a role as the extra blocker, but that seems like it may be unlikely. However, securing an active roster spot seems more probable this year than it did the last.
The addition of Kage Kasey in the draft likely spelled doom for Throckmorton’s 53-man roster hopes. We’ll see where the 30 year old offensive lineman ends up from here.
