Real Madrid received a timely boost ahead of their trip to Balaídos. Just when the squad situation seemed to be reaching a breaking point, Eduardo Camavinga returned to training with the group and will be available for the match against Celta Vigo. His return, almost at the last minute, comes at a moment when the midfield depth had become a serious concern.
For several days, Camavinga’s absence had added to the growing puzzle facing the coaching staff. The Frenchman had been sidelined for four days due
to a severe tooth infection that caused significant pain and kept him out of the squad against Getafe. But on the eve of the trip to Vigo, he rejoined full training and is now expected to travel with the team.
Raúl Asencio will also be part of the traveling squad, another crucial development given the mounting injury crisis. Asencio had been recovering from a cervical strain suffered after an awkward fall against Benfica, but he too trained with the group and appears ready to return.
Even with those returns, Real Madrid will travel with just 15 first-team players available. Without Camavinga and Asencio, that number would have dropped to a worrying 13.
The injury list remains extensive.
Éder Militão is sidelined with a rupture of the biceps femoris in his left leg, involving the proximal tendon. Jude Bellingham is out with a rupture in the semitendinosus muscle of his left leg, while Dani Ceballos is recovering from a rupture in the soleus of his right leg. David Alaba will miss the trip due to calf overload.
In addition to the injuries, several players are unavailable due to suspensions. Dean Huijsen and Álvaro Carreras are both suspended after accumulating their fifth yellow cards, while Franco Mastantuono will serve a suspension following a direct red card.
The attacking department has also taken major hits. Rodrygo is out long-term with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus, and Kylian Mbappé is sidelined with a sprain in his left knee.
The result is a severely depleted squad heading into a difficult away match in Vigo. But the late returns of Camavinga and Asencio, modest as they may seem, offer Real Madrid a bit of relief at a time when the squad depth had reached a critical point.
