Indiana football’s quarterbacks room is back to full strength.
Tyler Cherry, one of the first high school commitments of Curt Cignetti’s coaching tenure, is back on the Hoosiers’ active roster ahead of the 2026 season, per Indiana Athletics’ website. He spent the 2025 season as a student coach while rehabbing a knee injury he suffered toward the end of his freshman season in 2024. As a redshirt freshman, he has four seasons of eligibility remaining.
Cherry committed to the Hoosiers out of Center Grove
High School in Greenwood, Indiana, as a member of the class of 2024. He’d originally committed to Duke under Mike Elko but reopened his recruitment once Elko left for the Texas A&M job.
Indiana’s quarterbacks room is now made up of TCU transfer Josh Hoover, Cherry and two fellow redshirt freshmen in Jacob Bell and Maverick Geske. The Hoosiers needed to make up for some losses with Fernando Mendoza off to the NFL and Alberto Mendoza transferring out to Georgia Tech.
