Speaking to FOX4, Hunt responded to a question about the iconic name of Arrowhead
Stadium as it relates to the team’s new stadium being built in Kansas City, Kansas, where the Chiefs are scheduled to start playing home games in 2031.
“I don’t think we’ll call it Arrowhead, but we wanted to make sure there were enough elements in the design that reminds every fan who has attended a game at Arrowhead about what a great stadium that is. We really want to honor the legacy of Arrowhead and we know how important Arrowhead is to our fans.”
In the new stadium, the Chiefs’ owner expressed the desire to have a facility that “can last 50 or 60 years” and “help us host big events, like a Super Bowl, in Kansas City or a World Cup when [it] comes back.”
Earlier this summer, the organization filed trademark applications for the name of the complex where the Chiefs’ new stadium will be. These were the four listed by KCTV 5 at the time:
- Arrowhead Sports and Entertainment Complex
- Arrowhead Sports Complex
- Tailgate Town
- Kingdom Commons
Hunt will have a fresh name for the brand-new stadium, but there’s still a chance the “Arrowhead” brand lives on in Kansas.
